CUBAN MEMORIAL


 

"DAY OF REMEMBRANCE AND TRIBUTE" will be held
 
Activity: Establish a day of remembrance for those that have died as a direct result of the Castro-communist regime, from January 1, 1959 until the date which said activity takes place.
 
Day selected: 15, 16 y 17 de February, 2008.

Place: Tamiami Park, located on Coral Way and 107 Avenue, in the Westchester community, Miami-Dade County.  112th Avenue entrance.
Specifically, in the grassy areas between the Fair grounds and Florida International University, usually used as parking.
 
Objectives: A symbolic cemetery through the placement of white crosses measuring 2.5 X 3.5 feet, made out of foam, for each confirmed and verified death, and in an area 6 inches wide on the front of each cross, the corresponding information of each decedent will be detailed:  name, date and place of death.
 
A gigantic wooden cross will be placed in the center of this area measuring 14 X 17 feet and painted white, which will act as recognition for all of those which have died and as of the date of the activity, their detailed and verified information is not available. This cross will be named:  The Cross of the Unknown Decedent

The location of the crosses will be completely symmetrical in all directions, with 5' foot spaces between each cross. It is calculated that there will be approximately 10,000 crosses that will be placed.  The causes of deaths attributed directly to the Castro-communist regime are:
- Executions by firing squads
- Assassinations of an an extra-judicial manner
- Missing persons
- Deaths in prisons due to police brutality, lack of medical assistance and suicides
- Deaths from combat in military operations, infiltration, disembarking, rising, etc.
- Deaths of members of the 2506 Brigade from the Pay of Pigs
- Deaths and missing persons from illegal exiting of the country in search of freedom.

Additionally, create a leaflet containing the names and information of all decedents, to hand out to all those attending and the press in general.
 
How the Activity will Take Place: A call to silence, observance of a minute of silence by all those attending.

Religious prayers for the souls of the decedents
In the conclusion of the activity, the Mambisa Reveille could be played or a release of gunfire.
